Hello I'm Misa
The artist behind Misalydian!
I'm the artist behind Misalydian
Based out of Las Vegas, I work out of a repurposed chicken coop to create Japanese-inspired pottery and strange, sleep-deprived creatures, each with their own unique struggles and quirks, in ceramic & 2D form.
Sometimes you’ll see them thriving and living in the moment, while other times you’ll find them in unfortunate situations, often due to forces beyond their control.
I find them oddly endearing and inspiring to see these characters facing their own struggles and rebelling against their circumstances by continuing to be themselves.
I'm currently working to opening The Coffee Note, a jazz club/cafe where people can sip and eat from my hand-crafted pieces while enjoying live jazz. My hope is that this space will become a home away from home for the Vegas jazz scene and for people who enjoy sharing and connecting with one another through art.
After all, community and creativity are what keeps us human.
My Process
-
Hand-Crafted
Each of my pieces are made by hand, meaning that each piece is an original with unique details and quirks that cannot be exactly replicated again.
-
Sustainability
I'm committed to sustainability and ethical production practices. Each step of my process is designed to minimize waste and reduce environmental impact. My pieces are fired in kilns powered by solar panels and every scrap of clay is reclaimed to make more pieces while minimizing waste. I use recycled and biodegradable packaging materials whenever possible and repurpose any plastic packaging that come from other companies' packaging (amazon airbags, bubble wrap, etc.) in order to give it another life before being discarded.
-
Functional Art
Many of my ceramic pieces are designed to be both beautiful and functional, adding joy, whimsy, and a bit of weird to your everyday life.
